The Outstanding Commitment to Excellence and Innovation in Distance Learning Awards are presented to a person, institution, or corporation who has done the most to benefit and advance the applied practice of distance learning, in the opinion of our members, during the past year. The 2015 recipients are:
The Bennie Tschoerner Awards for Outstanding Commitment to TxDLA Awards are given to the most committed individuals and organizations for their outstanding service to the association during the past year. This year, the awards were renamed to honor the late Bennie Tschoerner, a past TxDLA board member and Chief Information Officer who volunteered endless hours to TxDLA in website and database design and administration. The 2015 recipients are:
The Don Foshee Award for Outstanding Leadership, named in honor of TxDLA’s founding member and first President, is presented to a TxDLA Board Member, Officer, or Committee Chair who has shown a strong personal commitment, given generously of their time, and provided vigorous support for other TxDLA members to become leaders in the Association. The 2015 recipient is past TxDLA President Cindy Smith.
John A. Baker Memorial Award recipient, Anna Tyson
In memory of longtime champion for educational technology and distance learning, Dr. John A. Baker, and in recognition of his lifetime commitment to excellence in teaching, TxDLA established the Annual John A. Baker Memorial Award. Through this award K-12 teachers are recognized for their work in the distance learning arena and are be given more opportunities to reach students through the use of educational telecommunications and distance learning technologies. The 2015 recipient is Anna Tyson, of Keller Independent School District.
Awards are given to individuals who go above and beyond in their dedication and commitment to distance education. Nominations for the Hall of Fame and Awards can be made throughout the year by going to the Awards page of our website.
