UPCOMING EVENT: TxDLA-Central Texas Regional Quarterly Meeting
We will meet on Thursday, January 29, 2009 from 10:30 until 2:30 at the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Austin.
Be prepared to discuss and/or learn about our two topics, First: Web Accessibility issues (how blind people access the web and how web masters can make sites more accessible, thus compliant with federal law); and Second: Setting up an initial Distance Learning Program or Upgrading your old system.
Lunch will be provided.
This is a great opportunity to learn some new things (or add to someone else’s learning) and network with other professionals in Distance Learning.
Traffic Tip
The traffic in the Austin area will have died down by 9 - 9:30 a.m. If you arrive at the school by 10 a.m. you'll have
plenty of time to unwind before the meeting starts at 10:30 a.m. Our program will end by 2:30 p.m., which will give
you plenty of time to leave Austin before the afternoon traffic begins at 3:30 p.m.
Exits
3 Options: From IH-35, the best exits to take are Airport, 51st St., or Koenig/2222.
Northbound on IH-35
1. Exit Airport Blvd. from IH-35. Turn left at Airport Blvd. (at the light), cross under IH-35, immediately turn left at the next light on 45th St. Go past Guadalupe and Lamar to the TSBVI entrance on Miller Rd. Follow the TSBVI internal map to Silverrain, Building 544 or the Conference Center, Building 549.
2. Exit 51st St. from IH-35. Turn left at 51st St. light, cross over the overpass. Cross Airport light. Cross Guadalupe light. Turn left at T intersection with Lamar Blvd. (next to 7-11). Turn right onto Sunshine Dr., turn left into TSBVI campus. Park in parking lot on right. Enter Silverrain Building, #544, and follow signs to Conference Center.
3. Exit Koenig / 2222 from IH-35. Turn left on E. Koenig / 2222 at the light, cross Guadalupe, and turn left at Lamar Blvd. (a large intersection), cross 51st St., and turn right on Sunshine Dr. before the Lamar Blvd. intersection. Turn left into the TSBVI campus, turn right into the parking lot. Enter the Silverrain Building, #544, and follow the signs to the Conference Center.
Southbound on IH-35
1. Exit Koenig / 2222 from IH-35. Turn right on E. Koenig / 2222 at the light, cross Guadalupe, and turn left at Lamar Blvd. (a large intersection), cross 51st St., and turn right on Sunshine Dr. before the Lamar Blvd. intersection. Turn left into the TSBVI campus, turn right into the parking lot. Enter the Silverrain Building, #544, and follow the signs to the Conference Center.

Note for those who smoke: Next to the Silverrain parking lot, on Sunshine St., are two designated smoking areas. There are benches next to a covered bus stop next to the sidewalk entrance and benches next to the automobile entrance by the parking lot. Since our campus is a non-smoking zone, please feel free to use these areas to smoke. Many Thanks!
