- View the conference slideshow! Hello friends! I would like to take this opportunity to personally welcome you to the Texas Distance Learning Association's 2004 Conference. This year we will head to the magnificent Moody Gardens Hotel and Resort on Galveston Island . The conference kicks off with a welcome reception on Monday, March 29th, and continues through the closing lunch on Thursday, April 1st. This year's theme is "Surfing the Big Wave." Those of us involved in Distance Learning know that the ride can sometimes be rough, the waters are often deep, and it is crucial to have the necessary knowledge and skills to navigate through this constantly evolving field. In keeping with the spirit of the theme, everyone is encouraged to dress casual! We have an exciting opening session called "Theatre of the Imagination", and a premiere panel sponsored by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. Julie Young, Executive Director of the Florida Virtual School, will keynote the closing session on Thursday. With more than one hundred breakouts, showcases, roundtables, and how-to's, you will leave the conference with valuable resources and peer networking to tap into throughout the year.
