Web Apps & Online Collaboration
This workshop will cover several free “web apps” including Google Documents, Acrobat.com, Adobe Buzzword, etc. These services will be explained and demonstrated and each participant will have an opportunity for hands on experience. During the workshop an emphasis will be placed on collaborating with others online. Through this workshop each participant should gain a basic working knowledge of the tools we cover and of collaborating effectively in an online environment. The hands on experience will require an existing or new account for each set of tools (i.e. a Google account, Adobe.com account, etc.).
*K-12 PARTICIPANTS: We are proud to announce that all pre-conference and hands-on workshops qualify for CPE credits!

Distance Learning: When to Do What and How to Go About It
You don’t have to be a web guru to teach online. Join us for facilitated activities that will lead you through the process of structuring your course material, choosing appropriate strategies, and designing effective navigation. Workshop will include brainstorming session about effective applications and online tools.
Participants should bring information about a course they are considering putting online, or an existing online course they wish to improve, including: syllabus, course description, goals, learning objectives, outline or table of contents, textbook and any other course materials currently being used (for example: handouts, templates, games, illustrations, maps and descriptions of activities). Unlimited Professional Development Opportunities through Social Networking
The goal for this session is for all participants to begin using several social networking tools which will facilitate the development of a personal, online professional development network. If your participation in this session is successful, within 3-6 months after the session, you will have an online network of 50-100 professional colleagues with whom you can exchange ideas, share resources, poll/survey informally, and/or engage in dialogue on a regular basis and at your leisure. The session will explain underlying concepts of and how to use Google Reader (an RSS reader/aggregator) and Twitter a microblogging tool, and then begin actively building a personal, professional networks. Time permitting, we will discuss and explore other tools in which the group may have interest and/or expand the discussion to include possible classroom uses of the same technologies. Only a fundamental level of proficiency using the internet is necessary, and this professional network will benefit greatly from diverse levels of experience within the group. Begin early by contacting Chris at http://www.twitter.com/cmduke or http://tinyurl.com/cmdukeshared or http://www.cmduke.com
