Pluscht Steps Down as TxDLA Board Chair

After four years as Chairman of the TxDLA Board, Patrick Pluscht announced at the close of the June 20 Board Meeting that he is stepping down as TxDLA Board Chair effective July 1, 2007. Pluscht cited other Pluscht Photo 1 personal and professional time commitments as the reason he has decided to not seek reelection to the Board Chair.

In announcing his decision to the Board, Pluscht issued the following statement, "I want to extend my appreciation to each person who has served on the Board during my service as Chairman. It has been a great privilege to lead this organization and work closely with so many talented individuals over the past 4 years. We have grown tremendously in size, revenue generation and sophistication to become a national leader for distance education professionals. It’s been a lot of work, but it’s also been a lot of fun. And so today I have mixed emotions as I announce my intention to step down as Board Chair effective July 1, 2007. I plan to continue my service on the Board as the Higher Education Representative for the remainder of my term and I will work with the newly appointed Chairman to ensure a smooth transition.”

"When I think about what TxDLA leadership should look, sound, and feel like, Patrick Pluscht always comes to mind. He has served as a model for our Board members truly defining the role of TxDLA Board Chair" said Ken Conn, current TxDLA President.

Responding to Pluscht’s decision to not seek reelection to the Board Chair, incoming TxDLA President said “Patrick is a genuine leader and the level of commitment and professionalism with which he approaches Pluscht Photo 2 every task is above and beyond. He has done an outstanding job as Board Chair. TxDLA is a better organization because of his dedication and service as the Chair, and he will be missed in that role."”

Laurie Hogle, incoming President, will assume the dual roles of President and Chairman of the Board. Hogle will have 30 days to conduct a nomination and election of a Board Chair from among the 2007-2008 Board Members.

After the board meeting, Pluscht said “I want to thank everyone for the kind words you offered today and the support I've always enjoyed from each of you. You're a wonderful group.”

Pluscht will continue his service to the board as the Higher Education Representative.
