Bob Barnes Elected to Board Member-At-Large
Ken Rosier, Chair of TxDLA's Nominations and Elections Committee, and his committee have certified the
results of the Board Member-At-Large election. In a crowded field of 12 candidates, Bob Barnes, Network Manager with the Region X Educational Service Center, has been elected to fill the remaining Member-At-Large term that was vacated by Rhonda Blackburn who moved into the TxDLA’s President-Elect position.
“We believe this was the largest group of candidates for any elected position in the history of TxDLA which demonstrates the success of our organization as well as the many great members who are willing to step forward and play a leading role,” said Kevin Eason, Board Chairman.
“As those that know me already understand, I become passionate for and about things I commit to, especially all aspects of distance learning. I want to see every administrator, teacher, and student have as many avenues and options available to them, to provide or receive learning from a distance. I believe that TxDLA is, or can be, a conduit to all of those opportunities. I want to help strengthen those resources and make them more readily available to the Texas distance learning community,” Barnes said.
“I am very excited and honored that the members elected me to fill this position and, I promise to be an advocate of the membership and the organization's goals. My thanks to everyone! I look forward to serving all members," Barnes exclaimed.
Eason said “Bob has been a faithful, hard worker for several years and will be an asset to our board.”
Barnes has been an active member of TxDLA since 2002. He has served on several committees including Membership. Most recently, Bob held the position of Technology Chair for both the 2006 and 2007 TxDLA Conferences, managing an extensive list of technologies and committee members as technical support..
