Submitted by Bennie Tschoerner
COSI (Center Of Science and Industry, Columbus, OH) has announced that Roxanne Glaser, Distance Learning Coordinator at ESC12, Waco, TX, has received their 2007 Excellence in Education Technology Award. This annual award was established to honor those technical coordinators and educators that exemplify excellence in using technology in education.
In announcing this award, COSI had this to say about Glaser:
"Roxanne coordinates videoconferencing for over 60 districts in Texas with grace, style, and enthusiasm. Roxanne believes in high quality engaging videoconferences and passes on that expectation to her local site managers and teachers. Roxanne is so dedicated to supporting her teachers that she will drive out of her way to visit a teacher in her classroom and help her get started with a
videoconference.
Roxanne also 1) creates content such as Monster Match, Seuss-a-palooza and Christmas Around the World. She shares videoconference experiences outside her service area via her blog, VC Rox, found at
http://www.edlink12.net/vcrox. On Roxanne's blog, others can learn about the best practices lessons that she is implementing in her area. This blog entry, How Many Ways, gives you an example of the work she is doing for her schools:

When contacted about receiving this award, Glaser
said "I am honored to receive the Excellence in Education Technology award
from COSI Columbus. Their outstanding programming is making a difference
for students throughout our network. I am privileged to work with an outstanding team here at Education Service Center Region 12. Shane
Howard, Video Network Engineer, does an amazing job supporting any project that I can dream up with his technical skill. The district site
managers and building coordinators from throughout our network are the people who do so much to promote the quality projects for our students
and to assist the teachers in the buildings. Thank you to others who have collaborated and shared with me so that I can better serve the
students and teachers."
Glaser has been active in
TxDLA and is currently the TxDLA Awards Committee Chair.
